The applications for 23-24 of the TSA are open!

As a member of the TSA you can make a difference for transfer students in our community, helping them find connections and community! Any UCSB transfer student can apply! 

We have 9 paid positions that will be open for next year. The responsibilities of each position are listed below. Please take a look at the positions and then follow this link to apply.

The TSA is a space for you to find community, help other students like you, and grow as a person. Though the responsibilities of the positions may seem daunting, don’t let that keep you from trying out a position you are interested in. We are all learning together!

OPEN POSITION DESCRIPTIONS


Secretary

    • Keep the corporate seal and apply it to legal documents. 
    • Take roll count votes and keeps control of the organizations administrative records resolutions and documents. 
    • Post meeting agenda 72 hours prior to meetings 
    • Assist Co-Chairs with facilitation of meetings 
    • Carry out all other matters as prescribed by the TSA board. 
    • Take notes of every meeting and post them at least 3 days after said meeting 
    • Assist Co-Chairs with any announcements or assignments
    • Understands the rules of Parliamentary Procedure and ensures that proper Parli-Pro is followed during the meetings. 
    • Hold two office hours in a regularly scheduled location

Treasurer

    • Have charge and custody of all funds of this chapter and will deposit the funds as required by the TSA board, keep and maintain adequate and correct accounts of the properties and business transactions, and render reports and accountings to the TSA board 
    • Assume the duties of the Co-Chairs in the absence of any of the Co-Chairs. 
    • Cco-sign, with the Chair and Co-Chair, the financial statements for TSA board. 
    • Prepare and submit request for funding to various funding sources at the direction of the Chair 
    • Create and submit a budget report for the budget process for the next fiscal year and present to Finance and Business 
    • Hold two office hours in a regularly scheduled location

Communications Director

    • Execute other board members ideas through eye-catching graphics. 
    • Design promotional items, artwork, and marketing for TSA, TSA website administration, and communications/social media campaigns for TSA. 
    • Carry out all other matters as recommended by the TSA Board 
    • Work with internal and external Directors for event planning
    • Manage TSA social media accounts and promote engagement among our social media subscribers 
    • Fulfill all needs related to public relations for TSA 
    • Make daily effort to communicate with the public and enhance the image of TSA 
    • Carry out all other matters as prescribed by the TSA board. 
    • Hold two office hours in a regularly scheduled location 

Health & Wellness Director

    • Responsible for relaying information regarding health and wellness to the TSA board and its members. 
    • Responsible for keeping up with all board members and checking in with them. 
    • Responsible opening dialogue with CAPS and other student health services, to inform them about issues facing transfer students specifically. 
    • Hold two office hours in a regularly scheduled location 

Internal Director

    • Monitor the status of and facilitate the board’s direction and oversight of policies and procedures related to the board. 
    • Ensure that their self-assigned event planning committee is functioning efficiently and work is getting done. 
    • Maintain communication with faculty, advisors, and other professionals that work closely with the boards or that could contribute to our mission and purpose. 
    • Monitor the effectiveness of the board’s procedures and members and voice any changes that could be beneficial to making the board more efficient. 
    • Securing locations/venues for all TSA events including board meetings, coordinating times, and maintaining communication among members of the board. 
    • Assist External Director and Event Director in event planning and coordinating 
    • Hold two office hours in a regularly scheduled location

External Director

    • Create an outreach event for incoming/admitted transfer students from the local community colleges of the Santa Barbara/Ventura County. 
    • Market out the outreach event to both UCSB transfer students and admitted transfer students from the CCs for the outreach event. 
    • Establish an external affairs committee who will help them create the outreach event agenda, a budget, and ensure that they receive funding from the Student Initiated Outreach Program (SIOP). 
    • There will be instances where they’ll need to present their transfer outreach program to different committees and groups throughout school. 
    • Assist Internal Director in event planning and coordinating 
    • Carry out all other matters as prescribed by TSA board 
    • Hold two office hours in a regularly scheduled location 

Diversity Director

    • Report to the Co-Chairs and committee as to what are the set goals and objectives. This should be reported at least once a school quarter. Preferably at the beginning of each quarter 
    • Coordinate with Internal and External Directors to plan events that promote diversity for the transfer community
    • Advocate for diversity inclusion during board meetings and board goals
    • Serve as a liaison with campus organizations and campus resource centers, who serve specific diverse backgrounds, and mutually promote events through social platforms. Work together with these campus organizations and resource centers to plan events together to promote diverse identities within the transfer community 
    • Plan a transfer diversity panel with willing campus organizations and campus resource centers to promote diverse experiences faced by the transfer community. This panel will also promote an open discussion on these issues, as well as how the community can work together to minimize these issues
    • Seek out possible sponsors and advocates of transfer diversity within the local community. Possible Scholarship award opportunities for transfer students of diverse backgrounds. This will also increase public awareness of the transfer community. 
    • Highlight diverse transfer student role models
    • Promote and participate, if possible, in volunteer programs that help members of minority backgrounds
    • Hold two office hours in a regularly scheduled location 

Event Coordinator/Director

    • Help organize and facilitate the distribution of jobs needed for events
    • Work closely with the Communications Director for marketing ideas and needs
    • Work with other executive board members in event creation and execution 
    • Hold two office hours in a regularly scheduled location

Transfer Graduation Liason

    • Chair a transfer graduation committee to plan the spring quarter ceremony
    • Work with the committee and other board members to plan and execute the ceremony
    • Work with the Communications Director to publicize the transfer graduation ceremony
    • Carry out all matters as prescribed by the TSA Board
    • Hold two office hours in a regularly scheduled location

2022 Transfer Student Graduation FAQ !

Q: Does the ceremony cost money?
A: No, the ceremony itself does not cost money to attend.

Q: How much are the Transfer Stoles and Transfer Crewnecks? 

A: The Transfer Stoles and Transfer Crewnecks are FREE of cost. There are limited stoles and crewnecks so be sure to RSVP by the deadline.

Q: How do I get a Transfer Stole?
A: RSVP for the graduation, indicate that you would like a stole and a crewneck, and they will be available for pick up at the Transfer Graduation Ceremony. If you are not able to attend the ceremony, it will be available to pick up at the Transfer Student Center.

Q: Can I bring guests, how many?
A: Yes, there is no limit on guests.

Q: Where can we find parking?
A: Parking will be available at Lot 10, behind Elings Hall. Link to interactive campus map:

Q: Where is The Lagoon Lawn?
A: The Lagoon Lawn is the versatile outdoor venue that sits adjacent to the campus lagoon.

Q: Will I be walking across the stage?
A: There will not be a stage that students will cross.

Q: Will food be provided for dietary restrictions?
A: Yes, please indicate your dietary restriction on the RSVP, or feel free to let us know through dming on our social media platforms.

Q: What if I need to make changes to my RSVP?
A: Please contact us if there are any changes to your RSVP, tsgucsb@gmail.com

Q: Is there designated separate seating for grads and guests? Can I sit with my family and friends?
A: There will not be separate seating for grads and guests. You are able to sit with your family and friends.

Q: I missed the deadline to RSVP and reserve a stole. Can I still attend and get a stole and crewneck?
A: Please contact us as soon as possible, we cannot guarantee a stole or a crewneck but we will
work with you as much as we can.

Q: I want to a stole and crewneck but cannot attend the ceremony. How can I order one?
A: When you RSVP, just indicate that you will not be able to attend the ceremony. You can still
receive a stole and crewneck without attending the ceremony.

Q: I need financial assistance, how will I know if I receive it?
A: Please indicate this in the comments on the RSVP and email us at tsgucsb@gmail.com

Q: How can I help? Where/when does the committee meet?
A: The Transfer Student Graduation Committee meets on Fridays from 1pm-2pm through zoom at https://ucsb.zoom.us/j/3041423497.
