💐May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Prioritizing your mental health in college is necessary. With midterms behind you and finals on the horizon, here are 9 tips to help you prioritize your well-being during this busy time:

1. Maintain a Consistent Routine 🕐
Sleep, meals, exercise, and study should follow a rough structure.
Irregular schedules can worsen anxiety and fatigue.

2. Don’t Skip Sleep 😴
Aim for 7–9 hours of sleep. Sleep loss affects mood, memory, and focus.

3. Move Your Body 🏃‍♀️
Even a 20-minute walk can reduce stress and boost your mood. Who doesn’t love a walk on the beach?

4. Eat (Mostly) Well 🍓🥒🍕
A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains supports brain function.
Don’t beat yourself up for the occasional late-night pizza.

5. Use Campus Resources 📖
Visit CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) or the UCSB Health and Wellness Center for wellness workshops and mental health support.

6. Stay Connected 👯
Keep in touch with people who ground you and lift you up - friends, family, mentors.

7. Practice Mindfulness or Meditation 🧘‍♀️
Just 5–10 minutes a day can help calm your nervous system.
Implementing a yoga practice into your routine can help to ground you and relax your mind.
Apps like Headspace or Insight Timer are helpful and free!

8. Limit Social Media 📱
Take breaks or set time limits so you don’t overload your mind.

9. Hydrate and Put YOURSELF first! 💪🌞
Make sure you are prioritizing your own well-being FIRST.
